So how many of you out there have had bad a experience buying used vintage stuff online? I still cringe at the $150 eBay riding boots that didn't fit around my cankles. Bad idea! But it puzzles me when more mainstream sites offer vintage furniture and tchotchkes without showing what will actually arrive at your door.

North Beach is San Francisco's Italian-American neighborhood, and one of my favorites. Our very own Little Italy complete with a compact, cosmopolitan and very European feel. One of my favorite shops in North beach is Pelote , and is very European, indeed. Pelote imports beautiful, colorful fine fabrics from Basque and the southwest of France and stitches up some of the prettiest kitchen linens around. Their beautifully, chic striped aprons and dish towels are almost too pretty to use, and brighten up any kitchen decor
